At Edale CE Primary School‚ we believe that every child should enjoy sport and physical activity and have opportunities to try as many sporting activities as possible and find success in that.

What is the Sports Premium?

The Department for Education has given, since 2013, a sum of money to support their vision for sport within schools. This is: All pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. At Edale CE Primary we make sure that the funding is spent to promote a healthy lifestyle and to improve the quality of PE and sport in schools. We look to see an improvement against the following key performance indicators:

• The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles;

• The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement;

• Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport;

• Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils;

• Increased participation in competitive sport.

At Edale CE Primary School the Governors agree that the money must be used so that all children benefit regardless of their sporting ability.
