The internet is great for many things: learning; researching; revising; playing games; connecting with family and friends; social media; watching video clips; listening to music: being creative; getting help and advice.
However it can also be an unsafe and scary place. It is important that you know how to use the internet safely and what to do if you are worried about something you see or read.
There are many different devices used to connect online: phones; TV; tablets; watches; games consoles; internet enabled toys; smart speakers.
Online safety is more important than ever. During the Covid-19 pandemic the internet was used successfully for lessons and keeping connected but unfortunately there was an increase in online abuse.
If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe online then tell your trusted adult. Not everyone you connect with online are who they say they are, so only chat or play games with people you know.
It is important to talk to your parents about the games you play, the apps you use and who you connect with online.
Help, advice and resources. There are many websites that give you and your parents help and advice on using the internet safely, below are just a few of them.
