We belong in a Federation of small, rural schools in the Peak District, rooted in our communities and our environment, aiming to ensure the rounded development of the whole child through: fulfilment of their academic potential, preparing our pupils to be confident, happy citizens, and stimulating and broadening their individual talents.  

Additionally, at Edale School, we are proud to be a Church of England school, closely involved with Edale Church and parish. We offer education based on the principles of Christianity and the teaching and values exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ.  Every child is taught, and encouraged, to have respect for, and value, the following principles:

• Every human being is unique and valuable before God

• Every individual is equal in God’s eyes

• God’s creation, particularly the natural world, needs our care and love

• The students are part of a community, and it's important that they are fully part of that community in order to flourish and develop. No person is an island!

At Edale School, we aim to provide: 

• a challenging, yet nurturing, environment based on our Christian values;  

• the building blocks of the Christian faith through worship, prayer, teaching, and familiarity with scripture; 

• a context which fosters respect and values all faiths and cultures;  

• excellent teaching, learning support and administration in sympathy with the Christian faith; 

• an experience of learning which supports Christian values and spiritual development more widely;

• collective worship in which pupils regularly actively engage in its preparation and delivery;

• a curriculum which encourages pupils to think about justice and courageous advocacy, enabling them to make ethical choices, to think for themselves about the many big questions facing our world today; and to be agents of change; all within knowledge of world faiths, but centred on the Christian gospels.
