Nursery Provision - Stepping Stones Nursery

Provision for working parents

Edale Primary School is proud to work closely with Edale Stepping Stones Nursery and Childcare Centre to offer provision from 8am – 5:30pm, or 7:30am to 6pm for parents who need longer days, all year round. The nursery has twelve places for children aged 1-5 years and the wrap-around care offers provision for children attending primary school.

Breakfast Club

The nursery offer a breakfast club from 8am, or from 7:30am for parents who need an earlier start, each day Monday to Friday. At the end of the session,  children are walked to Edale Primary School and ensure a safe handover to their teachers there.

Children are welcomed into the new day with a choice of breakfast cereal, fruit and yoghurt and toast. Edale Stepping Stones recognise that each child is different and that some children will want to be more sociable than others at the start of the day. Staff respect those differences and will be sensitive in ensuring that your child has the best possible start to the day, so that by the time they are taken to school they are ready for the day ahead.

Children may attend from Reception through to Year 6 (Age 11).

After School Club

We offer after school club from 3:30-5:30pm during term time. Children are collected from Edale School and walk to the Centre with a member of staff. Children will be offered a biscuit and a drink on arrival.

Children then have the opportunity to take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. We recognise that some children will be tired at the end of school and will want to be quiet, maybe making something, drawing, reading or playing a game. Other children may want to go for a walk and have fun in the local play park, or make dens, explore the wild garden area or play games outside.

Tea is served from 4:30pm, and will usually be something such as make your own tortilla wrap, fishfinger sandwiches, beans on toast with fruit.

Holiday Club

Edale Stepping Stones operate a holiday club for primary school children for eight weeks a year, out of term-time. Edale Stepping Stones is privileged to be set in one of the most stunning parts of the country, with a wealth of possibilities for exploration right on the door step.

Children attending the holiday club have a wonderful exciting experience, exploring the natural environment, becoming super heroes as they overcome challenges presented by trying something new and working with friends to find different ways of doing things. They make new discoveries and experience awe and wonder. They will have fun – they will get messy, they may get wet, they may get muddy, they will laugh a lot and they will come home really tired, but full of stories about their day and the discoveries that they have made. Treasured memories are made of such things.

The club runs from 10am – 3pm each day and a hot lunch or packed lunch is provided, depending on the activities that day. Parents are able to book additional sessions either before and/or after the club if they want longer days.
