Derbyshire Healthcare Support - Smoking and Tobacco Workshop
Today, Karen from the Derbyshire Healthcare support team came to talk to the Y6 children about smoking. It was an informative presentation which included information about what tobacco is, what is in a cigarette, why some people might choose to smoke and the effects it has on the body as well as the peer pressure they may face in the future if others around them start to smoke. The children were great. They listened well, asked very thoughtful questions and got really involved in all the activities.
Here are some pictures from the morning....
Welcome to the Eagles class here at Edale. Our class is made up of Year 6 children from Edale and Hope. We come together, each morning at Edale, for our core maths and English work and then return to Hope for our afternoon lessons. It is so exciting to be involved in this new venture between two schools and we will keep you updated here about how we are all getting along.
"I'm finding it good. I'm enjoying the trip down to Edale. It's better than being in a big class. It feels really calm." Ellie P
"I like the Hope children coming to work here in the mornings." Ella S
"It's fun being an Eagle at Edale. I love the book selection and I am liking the lessons. The lessons are not stressful but I feel like I am working really hard." Isaac
"It's fun because it's a small class. You can work hard and it's a good atmosphere." Oscar
